The twenty-third psalm is probably one of the best loved passages of all the Bible. In today's show you will here the exposition of this psalm that I did for Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. I hope you find it encouraging and challenging. The outline of the passage is below:
With the LORD as our Shepherd we shall not want.
With the LORD as our Shepherd we shall not worry.
With the LORD as our shepherd we shall not wander.
When discipline comes it is never pleasing and yet it is necessary when God's people go astray. So was the case for the inhabitants of Jerusalem in 586 . B.C. In this show, you will hear a recording of the message I preached to the people of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from 2 Kings 25 on the destruction of Jerusalem and the captivity of her people as we continue through the Essential 100 series. The outline for the passage is as follows:
Outline:
The Siege of Jerusalem 1-3
The Victory of Babylon over Jerusalem 4-7
A Systematic Destruction of Jerusalem 8-21
Epilogue 22-26
Applications:
A Form of Religion without Obedience to God brings Discipline.
Resisting the Discipline of God makes matter Worse.
God’s Discipline does not leave His people without Hope.
This passage of the Bible is one of my favorites. As we continue in the series of the essential 100 passages of the Old Testament we arrive this week at 1 Kings 18. It describes the momentous event on Mount Carmel where Elijah challenges the prophets of Baal to have a contest on which deity will answer with fire. Of course, Elijah's God answers and wins the contest. The outline of the principle from which I preached to the congregation of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church this last Sunday are as follows:
A Servant of God must not be afraid to Speak the truth. 17-19
A Servant of God must not be afraid to challenge God’s people to Serve Him only. 21
A Servant of God must not be afraid to Put God up against other so called gods. 25-40
This show is a recording of the message I preached to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from 1 Kings 8 on the dedication of Solomon's Temple. Of course the temple no longer stands in Israel so it is important to understand the progressive revelation of God's presence with His people. In this message I discuss that. Here is the outline:
The Temple of God must be Dedicated to Him Exclusively.
If you were to be granted one wish for what would you wish? Most of us are not given that luxery but King Solomon was. 1 Kings 3 records that event. This episode of TLP is a recording of the message I preached to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church on this event. Here is the outline:
The Need for Wisdom 4-8
The Identity of Wisdom 9
The Reward of Wisdom 10-15
The Application of Wisdom 16-27

For those of us who are Christians we just celebrated the event that changed the world and is without a doubt the greatest event in History. The resurrection of Jesus is the foundational event of the Christian faith which is remembered each Sunday but especially once a year on Easter. This episode is a recording of the message I preached to the church in which I pastor Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from Mark 16. Here is the outline:
This show is a recording of the message I preached to the congregation of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from Matthew 27:51. In preparation for Easter this message looks at one of the events that surrounded the death of Jesus and that is the veil in the temple being torn in two. If we are going to have a Biblical World View it is important that we have a proper perspective on the death of Jesus. This message should help with that. Below is the outline:
The Torn Veil did or symbolized three important truths:
This show is a recording of the message I preached to the congregation of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from 2 Samuel 11 regarding the sin of David with Bathsheba. The principles of the passage are as follows:
Sin does not just happen to us.
Sin if not addressed can and often does lead to more sin.
This podcast is a recording of the message I preached at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from 2 Samuel 7 dealing with David's desire to build a house for God. Four fundamental questions are raised and answered in this passage.
Are good intentions all that is needed to do the will of God?
Today's episode is a recording of the message I preached to the congregation of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from 1 Samuel 24. It is a challenging passage for me because it convicts me of some of my attitude and actions regarding those in authority that I have had. The outline and principles are below:
Outline
Saul’s pursuit of David 1-2
Saul and David end up in the same cave 3-4
David cuts off part of Saul’s robe 4
David refuses to harm Saul 5-7
David reveals his lack of vengeance against Saul 8-15
Saul recognizes David’s character and future 16-21
1 Samuel 17 is probably the most popular story of the Old Testament. It is told to children over and over and over again in every children Bible book to where almost every child can tell you about the huge size of Goliath and the courage of David. It is indeed a story of courage and faith as well as fear and doubt. I believe the context tells us that the main theme of the event is perspective. We can either see things from man's perspective of God's. The outline of the text is as follows:
When people get frustrated with their current government they want a new one. Israel, during the time of Samuel, was in such a situation. They were suppose to have God as their LORD but rejected Him and wanted a king as Lord like the nations around them. 1 Samuel chapter 8 teaches four important truths about our relationship between God and government. Here is the outline and principles:
Outline
Israel Demands a King 8
Saul Chosen as King 9:1-26
Saul Anointed as King 9:27-10:16
Saul Proclaimed King 10:17-27
Saul Victorious as King 11
Saul Fails as King 13-15
Principles
Submission to God requires accepting you will be Different than others.
God often allows us what we want in our rebellion as a means of Discipline and learning.
Human governments Abuse power.
God in His providence uses even Rebellious requests for His glory.
In this show you will hear a message I preached to the church in which I pastor, Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from 1 Samuel 1-3. It deals with the change of leadership from the house of Eli to Samuel and is quite instructive for those of us who want to leave a spiritual and family legacy. The outline and principles are as follows:
Outline
The Birth of the New Leader 1:1-2:11
The Need for the New Leader 2:12-2:36
The Transition to the New Leader 3:1-18
Samuel is Recognized as the New Leader in Israel 3:19-21
Principles
Leadership Influence must Start in the Home.
Leadership Choice is under the Providence of God.
Leadership Failure has Devastating Consequences. .
In this show you will hear the message I preached to the congregation of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from the book of Ruth. The story of Ruth is a great story of redemption in the midst of the corrupt time of the Judges. The outline and spiritual principles of the book are below:
There are laws of nature such as the law of gravity and Campus Crusade for Christ has made known the Four Spiritual Laws. Today I talk about the Four Marriage Laws. These are taken mostly from Jimmy Evans in his book Marriage on the Rock: God's Design for Your Dream Marriage Here is an outline of today's show:
Gen 2:24 NKJV - Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
1) The law of Priority
gen 2:24 leave literally means “to loosen bands” The idea is that a man is to be released from his primary obligation and association.
Only ones relationship with God should be superior to the marriage relationship
newly wed were released from many Jewish obligations
Deu 24:5 NKJV - "When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war or be charged with any business; he shall be free at home one year, and bring happiness to his wife whom he has taken.
Challenges
Inlaws (hasn’t properly left)
kids
church
work
hobbies
Set priorities and protect priorities
Make time for what is important
Don’t give the leftovers to what is important
Sgs 2:15 NKJV - [Her Brothers] Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines [have] tender grapes.
2) The Law of Pursuit
gen 2:24 ....and shall cleave to his wife. cleave “to adhere to” As glue adheres one thing to another. “pursue after to overtake in order to be with”
work at it
pursue as you did while dating (example of riding across town to slip a note under Joanna’s door)
women after divorce going to the gymn everyday to loose weight.
guy who used to do kind things for the wife and had his attention on her now can’t get his attention away from ESPN
A woman who always dressed to impress but then after marriage always wears sweats and frumpy clothes.
why do we work so hard to impress and please complete strangers but put little work into pleasing our spouses.
It is taking them for granted.
feelings follow activity
story of the two employees who were going to quit but on the last day they gave it their all and learned that they really like what they did and did not quit.
If we would work at pursuing our spouses with intensity even if we don’t feel like it we will probably end up feeling like it.
Rev 2:5
Remember
Repent
Redo
3) The law of Possession
Gen 2:24 and they shall become one flesh
obviously in intercourse literally they become one flesh but more is meant in this.
Generally it is the concept of integration. combine (one thing) with another so that they become a whole (Online Dictionary)
God owns everything
When you become married you know longer have the option of acting alone or
No separate lives
different checking accounts
your money and my money
My kids (in a blended family)
1 person singular pronouns need to be replaced by 1 person plural pronouns.

1Cor 7 1Cr 7:1 NKJV - Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband [does]. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife [does]. 5 Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
No secrets
Complete surrender and sharing of life together
4) The Law of Purity
Gen 2:25 NKJV - And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
sexual differences could be openly expressed
they were unhindered and uninhibited in their intimacy
Their most sensitive areas could be exposed without fear.
They were without shame and had no need to hide or cover up. A beautiful picture of purity
Sin messed and messes this up.
purity is being free from contamination
How to overcome impurity in marriage
Don’t hide yourself but expose yourself
confess your sins one to another
express your heart
Expose yourself outside to inside.
Repent when there is sin
Forgive when there is sin
Put up fences around your marriage
Don’t leave the gates open
Eye gate
Ear gate
Do you want to leave a legacy of a strong marriage?
Make your relationship to your spouse you number 2 relationship
Pursue you spouse with as much or more zeal as you did to catch them in the first place
Integrate everything in your life with that of your spouse
Expose yourself completely, fully, and unashamedly before your spouse
In this show you will hear the message I preached to the congregation in which I pastor Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from Judges 13-16. Samson is an interesting character. With most of God's judges, prophets, and leaders there is at least some measure of redeemable qualities in him but it seems even these are lacking ion Samson. The outline and principles of the text is as follows:
Outline:
Samson’s Birth 13
Samson’s Marriage 14
Samson’s Revenge 15
Samson’s Demise 16
Principles:
The Spirit of God in Samson gave him great Power. .
The Sins against God by Samson caused him great Trouble .
The Sovereignty of God over Samson resulted in great Deliverance. .
In this show you will hear a message I preached to the congregation of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from Judges chapter 6-7. There are several themes in those chapters but one that stands out is fear. In this message we look at 7 fears and their results. This message should help build your biblical worldview regarding fear. The outline of the message is as follows:
Idolatrous Fear results in the Discipline from God
Trusting in oneself results in the Fear of Failure
In this show you will hear a recording of a message I preached to the church in which I pastor, Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from Judges 4.
