In this show you will hear a recording of the message I preached today to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from Genesis 27 and 28 on the deceptive way in which Jacob received the blessing from Isaac. It is a passage that has all kinds of wrong action and wrong motivations by the people involved. The outline of the passage is as follows:
Isaac’s Request 27:1-5

God freely Chose us before we choose Him.
Bad Examples in this passage are not to be followed.
In this episode you will hear a recording of the message I preached at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church this past Lord's Day. The text for the message is Genesis 22 where Abraham is asked by God to go to the land of Moriah and offer Isaac the son of promise as an offering. Some of the implications of the text are:
We must Obey God even if we don’t fully understand.
God will not have us do Contrary to His character.
God will Provide for what He asks us to do.
Tested Faith bring about Blessing
The pattern of the events are repeated in a more redemptive way 2400 years later when the Father offered His beloved Son as a Substitutionary atonement for His people.
On any given Sunday morning in churches across America the family is segregated into different worship services. Typically, if the children are in the "adult worship service" at all it is only for the first part where there is a lot of singing and then they are dismissed to "children's church". In some churches the children are not in the "adult worship service" at all. I believe that this is the exact opposite of what needs to be done if we are going to leave a spiritual legacy. So in this show I briefly discuss seven reason why the children should be with the adults during worship. If you want to raise children who love the Lord and Love to worship God you don't want to miss this episode.

The covenant was fulfilled physically but also spiritually. It is the spiritual fulfillment that is encouraging to believers today. Here is the divisions of the text:

The account of Creation as recorded in Genesis 1 and 2 is clear in its description of God as the Creator. The text reveals at least four main truths about Creation:
The Power behind Creation is Unparalleled.
The Patterns in Creation are Instructive.
The Pinnacle of Creation is Reflective.
The Perfection of Creation is Absolute.
Learning these truths will help you build a spiritual legacy through a sound biblical world view.

Join me in this episode as I talk with Scott Brown. Scott T. Brown is the director of the National Center for Family Integrated Churches and elder at Hope Baptist Church in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Scott graduated from California State University in Fullerton with a degree in History and received a Master of Divinity degree from Talbot School of Theology. He gives most of his time to local pastoral ministry, conferences on fatherhood, church reformation, and strengthening the family. He has been married to Deborah for thirty years, and they have four children ages twenty-six, twenty-four, twenty, and seventeen. Scott also helps people think through the two greatest institutions God has provided — the church and the family. He desires to learn what is pleasing to the Lord and to work for continuous reformation of church and family according to Scripture.
In this interview we discuss the following questions:
What trends are you seeing in the church as it relates to the family?
What is the premise of your book A Weed In the Church? What progress is being made in removing the weed?
How is the message being received in the Christian community?
What role does the sufficiency of Scripture play in the issue?
How does the NCFIC help the church and family work through this issue?
What recommendation would you give the family out there who wants to leave a multi-generational legacy of faith but is involved in a typical church?

In this show I talk about some helpful techniques to meditating on Scripture. Meditating on them is not a mystic nothingness as eastern religions might teach. Rather, meditating on the Scriptures is thinking it over as you focus on it in detail. This is important for us who want to leave a spiritual legacy because it enables us to better understand the Word of God for ourselves and then pass it on to generations to following. Join me today as we discuss asking questions of the text using, who, what, where, when, why, how, and wherefore questions. We also talk about 6 things to look for in meditating on the text:
Things that are repeated
Things that are emphasized
Things that are compared
Things that are contrasted
Patterns
Things that are true to life
For additional information and helpful techniques read the book, Living By the Book.
