There were some in the Colossian church who advocated adding to the Gospel or substituting the Gospel and Paul makes it clear in these verses that we must not do that. He is the outline:
- Traditions of Men must not be added to the Gospel or Substitute for the Gospel. 2:8-10
- Regulations of Rituals must not be added to the Gospel or Substitute for the Gospel 2:11-23
